Malawi's consumer inflation edged up to 23.7 percent year-on-year in November, from 23.3 percent in October, the statistics office said on Thursday. The National Statistical Office said an increase in non-food inflation had emanated from mainly alcoholic drinks, housing and household, as well as transportation prices.
The November figure saw a decline in food inflation, influenced by a continuous decline in costs of cereals and cereal products during the month of November. Food inflation slowed slightly to 21.3 percent from 21.5 percent in October 2014.
